Rose Cabin is a cosy unit
providing clean, comfortable accommodation for one or two people in the
scenic country township of Foster.
The Cabin has two single beds, fitted with bedside reading lights and electric
blankets. All bedding
and towels are provided for guests' use.
The Cabin is surrounded by lush gardens, including many varieties of
heritage roses and organically-grown fruit trees.
|
 |
Rose Cabin's
ensuite bathroom features a shower, a toilet and a basin, hand-towels and bathmats are also supplied.
The Cabin has efficient electric heating, a radio, and a basket full of
up-to-date information about what to see and do while in South Gippsland.
|
 |
|
There is also a compact
refrigerator, a selection of crockery and cutlery, and a kettle and toaster
for use by guests wishing to prepare their own breakfast.
Alternatively guests may choose to stroll into Foster to sample the wares of
the town's two bakeries.
Foster also has several small cafes serving breakfast, lunches and morning
and afternoon teas. The Exchange Hotel and the Foster Golf Club both offer evening meals. |

|
|
My house, with the Cabin
alongside, is situated where grazing lands meet the town on the western edge of
Foster.
There is light farm traffic on Victory Avenue and cattle in
the paddock beside the Cabin.
My interests are old-fashioned roses and
organic gardening, and I am more than happy to answer guests' questions
about my flowers, fruit-trees and the many native birds they attract.

Foster is an historic
gold-mining town. A large amount of gold was found here during the 1870s and
1880s. The Foster and District Historical Society's Museum is well worth a
visit to find out more about the local area.
Many visitors also enjoy spending
time beside Stockyard Creek which flows through the centre of Foster.
The Hayes and Brataualung Walks start in Foster and both take the visitor
through areas of native bushland.
Within easy walking distance of Rose Cabin is the Stockyard Gallery
complex, which includes art and craft exhibitions in the Gallery itself, a
Gallery shop, visitor information, Parks Victoria's Foster office and the
Foster Library.

Foster is
located about half-an-hour's drive from Wilsons
Promontory National Park. This large wilderness park is surrounded by
the waters of Corner Inlet and Bass Strait and features rocky
headlands, forests and magnificent beaches.
Foster is also close to the beautiful beaches of Sandy Point and Waratah
Bay, as well as the Cape Liptrap lighthouse and historic Walkerville.
Inland from Foster are the waterfalls of Turtons Creek, Hiawatha, and the spectacular Agnes Falls.
